The story will be told through the experience of people engulfed, enraged, embattled and empowered by the effects of one of the "unknown" hereditary diseases: Huntington's.
Our mission is to inform and bring a deeper understanding about HD. But first and foremost this film will be about the stories of the people it involves. These universal human themes will carry the film. They will compliment each other in a delicate and powerful way. Knowledge is power. This film aims to spread both Knowledge and build Power within the HD community and beyond. Through the stories in the film - we will bear witness to the questions, triumphs, struggles and daily life. By sharing stories, the film will spread Knowledge within the HD community as well as strengthen communication, encourage understanding, offer solace, honor the courage of all people affected by HD.
The HD community will also benefit from this film because it can be used as a tool that will introduce HD to the population at large. The goal of the film is to build Power by mobilizing a larger group outside the HD community, to attract a new audience with new energy and new resources. Together, these groups have the Knowledge and the Power to find a cure for HD.
The narrative of the film will document and explore ten separate unique and dynamically different stories of people's lives that have been molded, shaped, changed and forever altered by Huntington's disease.
Each of the ten segments will be at their essence rooted in an archetypical theme. Life, Death, Hope, Luck, Science, Compassion, Denial, Spirit, Courage, Strength, and Love. We will explore each one of these themes through an intimate and honest set of human stories.
One story might purely be about an individual and her struggle in midtown Manhattan while another might be about an entire village in South America or a pioneering European doctor. Whatever the aspect of Huntington's that a particular story explores, you will have seen, felt and further understood the lives of the people in these ten stories.
THis film is much more than a series of talking heads or film about a medical condition. The intent is to see the places where these stories are taking place and the cultural situations that surround our characters.
We want to see and feel each story not just hear them. The principle focus of the film will be to see the beauty in all things, even the most tragic moments, by elevating the power of human will. We have an incredible opportunity here to use the cinematic medium to bring light where there is darkness, to bring understanding where there is little, and to expand on the power of compassion and community to a part of humanity where there is not enough.
Please support the film.
